Sometimes an adult will feel as if they are too late in time to take lessons. Let us assure you that at the school we have many adults coming for Vocal, Piano, Guitar, Drums, Sax, and Violin. You will see adults coming at 1:00 in the afternoon or later at night. We are open until 9:00pm every night to accomodate some of us that work until 5:00pm and want to come to their lesson after a few hours of relaxation at home. If you are retired and would like to come in the morning, give us a call at 613-722-1010.
Many adults would love to take music lessons but don't really know where
to start. The first thing you as an adult should ask yourself is "what
do I want to learn?" Do you want to play in the classical style or maybe
jazz? How about some good old rock 'n' roll? Look for a program that
will not just encourage you to learn your favorite songs, but help you
understand how music is put together. Believe it or not, understanding
the basics goes a long way toward making music success easier.
Whether
it is for relaxation, personal enjoyment, or for a specific purpose,
learning an instrument is a rewarding experience for students of all
ages. Don't give up too quickly either. Give yourself six to nine months
to see if this instrument is for you or not. The benefits of music
study will outweigh the obstacles every time!
• Professional Environment
There are many teachers that teach out of their
homes. In between phone calls and domestic duties,
they find time to give their students a lesson. This
is not exactly the best place to learn a skill like
playing a musical instrument. That's why taking
lessons from a school that's well equipped, can offer
a variety of programs, has convenient scheduling for
multiple family members on different instruments, and has front desk
staff to answer
calls and any questions you may have about your
lessons has an obvious advantage for the
music student.
• Regularly Scheduled Weekly Lesson
People learn skills like golf or tennis or even
playing a musical instrument through regular and
consistent review from a professional. The way you do something, or "form", is a big
part of learning any coordinated physical activity.
By having your own private lesson with an experienced
instructor, your form is consistently being checked.
This prevents the development of bad habits that can
cause all sorts of problems and sometimes take a long
time to correct.
