Michel has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Ottawa where he studied saxophone with Jean-Guy Brault. Since then he has studied jazz with Mike Tremblay and has played professionally in the Ottawa region.
Michel plays piano and saxophone with various groups including a funk band, a rock band, a big band, a saxophone quartet, a wind ensemble and various jazz trios.
Also, he has been in the military for 5 years. He performs with the Band of the Governor General’s Foot Guards during the school year and plays with the Band of the Ceremonial Guard on Parliament Hill during the summer. During his service with the military, Michel has performed in Halifax, Bermuda and Norway, and has played music for many prestigious events.
Michel has been teaching piano and saxophone for over 10 years. He currently teaches at the University of Ottawa, at an elementary school, and at various music schools. His broad musical interests allow him to teach comfortably many different genres.
