Our preschool teacher, Melissa Hucul, comes to us with over 20 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. As well as bringing her guitar and vocal experience to the children, Melissa has written music specific to the goals of the program.
Music enhances the development of the whole child – physically, emotionally, socially and cognitively.
Bearing in mind the preschool child’s exuberance, curiosity and developmental level, we have designed a program that encourages the child to discover and explore his/her musical talents.
Themes:
I Can Make Music
1. With My Body
Creative use of voice, feet, hands, etc… as a group and individually, with traditional and modern singing games, action songs, and finger plays.
2. With Instruments
- Free exploration of: guitar, drums, violin, piano, rhythm sticks, bells, chimes.
- Creation of instruments out of everyday items.
The class will produce a CD from the music created and practiced throughout the sessions.
CLASSES ON SATURDAY MORNING
$12.50 per session once a week 1 hour
Like most preschoolers, your child probably already loves music and has favorite songs. This may have happened with little encouragement from you beyond simply playing music on long car trips. But did you know that your preschooler is now at an ideal age to expand his or her musical horizons and abilities? The Ottawa Vocal & Dance Pre-School invites you!
Kids who grow up hearing music, singing songs, and moving to the beat are enjoying what experts call "a rich sensory environment." That's just a fancy way of saying they're exposed to a wide variety of tastes, smells, textures, colors, and sounds. And researchers believe this forges more pathways between the cells in their brains.
Musical experiences are an important way to help create these pathways, also called neural connections. And while listening to music is certainly key to creating them, it's when kids actively participate in music that they make the strongest connections.
Research shows that kids who are actively involved in music (who play it or sing it regularly):
- do better in reading and math when they start school
- are better able to focus and control their bodies
- play better with others and have higher self-esteem
- Overall a brighter, happier child
WE DO BIRTHDAY PARTIES!
Package 1
$180.00 Includes our stage performance room for up to 2 1/2 hours complete with stage lighting and effects. Our choreographer will show the birthday partiers a routine to stage a musical show for all the parents to see! While they are busy dancing, another room is set up for the birthday cake and presents. Upon request, you can have us video the show and produce a DVD to hand out as gifts in the lootbag. The setup fee is $50.00 with a minimum of five Dvd's @ $5.00 each. The Dvd's come with a beautiful label and the video is edited to have full title opening and special effects!
Package 2
$250.00 Includes our stage performance room for up to 2 1/2 hours complete with stage lighting and effects. You will get the same as package 1, plus the technition to run music and lights for the Ultimate Dance Party!
Upon request, you can have us video the show and produce a DVD to hand out as gifts in the lootbag. The setup fee is $50.00 with a minimum of five Dvd's @ $5.00 each. The Dvd's come with a beautiful label and the video is edited to have full title opening and special effects!
Package 3
$150.00 Includes our stage performance room for up to 2 1/2 hours.
