Miguel de Armas Jr. is a young promising talent: pianist, composer and producer born in Cuba in 1993. He holds a Bachelor degree in Music composition from the High Institute of Arts in Havana, as being a result of a solid musical education of over 15 years. Miguel has has participated in collaborative recording projects by renowned Cuban trumpet player Yassek Manzano, saxophonist Cesar Lopez, pianist Ernan Lopez-Nussa, among others.
Miguel has also performed along Cuban legend Leo Brower at Chamber Music Festival in Havana He collaborated with the multi Grammy awarded group Gente de Zona
touring the US, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Ecuador.
He has been recipient of first prize in the Composition category at JOJAZZ International
Jazz Festival in Havana 2011. In addition, same year he was awarded the third prize in the Jazz performance category and he also won the first prize at the Piano Performance Competition Amadeo Roldán.
Miguel is currently based in Ottawa, Canada, where he is developing his versatile musical skills in the production of music that explores the sounds of electronic, pop, jazz and world music.
